DT House, a 72sqm urban house located in Surabaya, Indonesia. The concept is maximizing function and maintaining proportion in a small space. To achieve the desired function and proportion within limited budget, the designer want to simplify the design as much as possible and bring various space-saving features to enhance its practicality and comfortability. As a guide to the internal proportions, the kitchen on the lower level is designed with built-in small storages by the backsplash to keep bottles, condiments, and power sources tidy. A big seamless mirror backsplash then added to make the kitchen looks bigger. The interior layout is designed with minimal circulation so every space is used optimally. The building features three levels and 1 roof top. The master bedroom with en-suite bathroom is located on the second level, with the main living area above. It is designed to be a very compact bedroom with built-in mirror on the entrance and a bedframe with built-in compartment underneath. An open staircase leading to a rooftop deck is dsigned with storages below to keep any gardening hardware. Steel divider is also placed as a safety feature while separating the living room from the working area.
